On the men’s 100m butterfly final:

On breaking the championships record in the men’s 100m butterfly final:
“It is a good time, but I wanted to win more than anything else.”
On his preparations for the championships:
“I had a rough build-up, because I took six weeks off after the Olympics in London.”
On whether he could take over from Michael PHELPS (USA) as the face of swimming:
“I hope so. I want to keep getting better every year.”
On the 2016 OlympicGames in Rio de Janeiro:
“I am very excited about the Olympics in Rio. There are going to be some good Japanese swimmers there. It is going to be a whole different Olympics.”
On his father being a YouTube sensation:
“My dad is sitting up there. I know everyone would probably rather speak to him.”
